About this tour

Most visitors never make it to Duy Hai. The village wakes before 4 AM — fishermen returning, nets being mended, the spontaneous market appearing on the sand. You'll be there with a photographer who knows these men by name, in the exact window when the light turns gold and the chaos turns beautiful.

What you'll photograph
  • Round basket boats (thuyền thúng) launching before first light
  • Fishermen sorting the night's catch on wet sand
  • The spontaneous fish market — faces, color, movement
  • Traditional trawlers silhouetted against a gold horizon
  • Long-exposure waves and boat reflections at shore
What's included
  • Private round-trip transport from Hội An
  • Coffee & bánh mì
  • Real-time photography coaching
  • Shot list & composition guide

About this tour

By 7 AM the Old Town belongs to tourists. By 6 AM it still belongs to locals — the vendors setting up, the motorbikes weaving through narrow lanes, the light sliding in at a low angle across those famous yellow walls. This is the tour people come back from saying "I finally got the shot I came to Vietnam for."

What you'll photograph
  • UNESCO yellow walls in soft morning raking light — texture, shadow, depth
  • Empty alleys and iconic facades before the day begins
  • The morning market: tropical fruit, seafood, vendors in conical hats
  • Color and authentic street life — real Hội An, not the postcard version
  • The Japanese Covered Bridge — architecture, symmetry, quiet reflection
What's included
  • Walking tour (no transport needed)
  • Market breakfast together
  • Full real-time image review & coaching

About this tour

The Thu Bon at late afternoon is something you can't photograph from the shore. As the sun drops low, the light turns the water into molten gold and every cast net becomes a perfect frame. You need a boat, the right guide, and patience — this tour gives you all three. The most meditative experience of the three, slow and full of frames you won't find anywhere else.

What you'll photograph
  • Fishermen casting nets from a traditional wooden boat
  • Warm golden light reflecting off still, mirror-flat water
  • Coconut palm reflections and flooded rice paddies
  • Basket boats navigating narrow river channels
  • Rural river-bank life — farmers, children, daily rhythm
What's included
  • Private wooden boat with local river guide
  • Real-time photography coaching on board
  • Shot list & timing notes

Not a tour guide.
A local photographer.

I moved to Hội An two years ago and never left. I know the fishermen by name. I know which alley catches the best raking light at 6:15 AM and which vendor will let you photograph her if you've bought her breakfast first. These aren't tours I researched — they're the places I photograph every week.

Access you won't find elsewhere

Two years of daily life in Hội An — building relationships with local fishermen, market vendors, and river guides — means you photograph people who trust us. That trust shows in the images.

Everything you need
to know before booking

Do I need to be a professional photographer? +

Not at all. These tours are designed for all experience levels — from smartphone users to photographers with professional gear. The coaching is adapted to where you are and what you want to learn.

What camera do I need to bring? +

Bring whatever you have and feel comfortable with. Smartphone, compact, mirrorless, DSLR — the light and the scenes are what matter. We'll make the most of your gear, whatever it is.

What's the best time of year to visit for photography? +

The tours run year-round, and each season offers something different. February to May is generally the best time — dry weather, soft morning light, comfortable temperatures, and clear skies. June to August brings warmer conditions, vibrant colors, lush rice fields, and dramatic sunsets, great for street and landscape photography. September to January is the rainy season: showers are more frequent, but photographers are often rewarded with moody atmospheres, misty mornings, reflections in the streets, and dramatic skies that add real character to images. For the most consistent conditions, we recommend February–May and October–December.

Can I combine multiple tours on my trip? +

Yes — and many guests do. Since each tour runs in the early morning and covers completely different locations and subjects, you can do all three in three consecutive days. Combined bookings receive a 10% discount.

How far in advance do I need to book? +

At least 48 hours in advance to confirm logistics. During peak season (Jan–Feb, Jul–Aug), spots tend to fill 1–2 weeks ahead. I recommend booking as soon as your travel dates are confirmed.

What language are the tours conducted in? +

Tours are conducted in English and Spanish. I'm Chilean and have been photographing Vietnam for years — if you're coming from Latin America or Spain, you'll feel right at home.

Is this suitable for solo travelers? +

Absolutely. Many guests come alone and find the small group size makes it easy to connect. The tours are also available as fully private (just you) — contact me for solo rates.

What's your cancellation policy? +

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the tour. Within 48 hours, 50% of the tour fee applies. If we cancel due to extreme weather, you'll receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.
